Shawn Pierce

I recently had an opportunity to speak with brawny and bold believer Shawn Pierce.

By: Joshua Conner

Shawn “The Shredded Chef” Pierce, is a precision prepping chef, menu/health/fitness coach, and humble Christian. Pierce inspires me because of his physique, delicious food posts, faith, and humor.

Pierce is as big and bold in personality, as the story of his first tattoo.

“I got my first tattoo, in high school, behind my family’s back. So, I went to a tattoo parlor, forging my parent’s signature, because at the time, back in ninety-six all you needed if you weren’t twenty-one yet, was your parent’s signature like a permission slip, basically. So, I went outside and forged it, and I pretended my parents were there in the car. The tattoo artist clearly knew that was not the case.

I forged the signature and it was a two-day event because it was one day of outlining. The first day was just two hours of just the outline, then he picked me up from high school the next day, which was odd and strange. On the way to the tattoo parlor, he was smoking all this pot. I was so nervous at the time, because I was very uptight and not exposed to any of that before, so I was really worried about someone doing a tattoo on me that was really stoned. So, I was like oh shit! He was like don’t worry, it just makes me more creative and really able to get in the zone. I heard him and I was really freaked out. Then, for four hours he did the rest of the tattoo, and I had a friend pick me up from the tattoo parlor.

I hide the tattoos from my family for two months, because it happened in the wintertime. So, I wore a long sleeve shirt every day, and I never let my family see me without a shirt on. I hide this gigantic tattoo on my arm, my shoulder and all the way down to my forearm because it was a very large tattoo for a first one.

Most people get a small tattoo, but I went for big and bold, I got a big dragon on my arm. It really didn’t have any meaning to it. I really wanted to get a big tattoo, it was black and gray. He was a great artist, I would just come to learn through getting more tattoos that all tattoo artists are very unique individuals. They have their own ways of living their lives,” said Pierce.

Pierce gave a lucid title to his life story and choose another big and bold personality to play him in a movie.

“The title, I would say Redemption, and who would play me in a movie? Oh boy, that’s an easy one, The Rock,” said Pierce.

Pierce’s most memorable year was 2000, the year that his son was born. If Pierce could leave his son one quality, it would be positivity.

What does Pierce love about being a chef?

“What do I love about being a chef, well I love food. I just love being able to work with something that I love to be around, I love to eat, I love to prepare food, I love to feed other people and I love being around food,” said Pierce.

What are Pierce’s underwear preferences?

“Boxer briefs and I like sports brands because they are really active. Under Armour makes really great boxer briefs, there stretchy and they also look very good on me, so definitely Under Armour,” said Pierce.

Pierce’s favorite inspirational quote is from a poem by Dylan Thomas, “Do not go gentle into that good night, rage, rage against the dying of the light.”

If Pierce could cook a meal, with anyone died or alive, who would it be and what would he serve them?

“I would say because I am religious, I would say Jesus. What would I serve him? That would be tough, I would say some sort of seafood, obviously because being a Christian man. I would want to fix him something he would like, so I would have to say seafood would be my go-to,” said Pierce.

What is Pierce’s mission in the world?

“My mission, I just want to be able to find a way to help people,” said Pierce.

Joshua Hickman

I recently had an opportunity to speak with handsome and hard-working athlete Joshua Hickman.

By: Joshua Conner

Joshua Hickman is a B Physique athlete & NQ NPC Physique/Classic Physique fitness competitor. Hickman inspires me professionally and personally. Professionally, I am inspired by Hickman’s work ethic,  and how one of his professions is in the food service industry. Personally, I am inspired by Hickman’s service as a first responder, amazing physique, dedication to creating a strong body of work & his didactic social media posts.

What is a day in the life of Hickman like?

“They do vary, and they are always busy. So, typically it depends on where I am at in the year. So, as you know, I compete. So, as I get closer and closer to shows, my days might start at 4 or 5 in the morning, and it might go until midnight. That kind of schedule would stay that way for weeks on end. I usually don’t operate on very much sleep, I get anywhere from 3 to 5 hours. I am always active.
I have a few different professions that I actually do so. Then, I have to squeeze in gym time. The physical aspect of my life, I don’t want to say are precedent, but it does have a high priority, and so I am in the gym 5 or 6 times a week. My diet is such that I eat 8 or 10 times a day, so I meal prep enough food for 2-3 days before I have to cook more. So, I spend quite a bit of time in the kitchen. Then, I have an 8 hour work day, sometimes up to 12-hour workday. I might do 2-3 jobs within a day or so. So many of my days can start at 5:00 in the morning and go to 12:00 at night. I’m always on the go, I have a meal bag, that literally gets packed with 4 or 5 meals in it, because I may be eating on the road, going to one thing to the next. So, my days, I don’t want to say are hectic, but their busy and there on the go. So early mornings and late nights,” said Hickman.

What would be the title of Hickman’s life story and who would play him in a movie?

“The title, I think with most people’s lives, would be something in the realm of a survivor, as far as the title of my life story would go. Who would play me, let’s go with Ben Affleck,” said Hickman.

How did Hickman get the nickname Mr. Homecomin?

“Hahaha, so one of my jobs is I am a bartender & server at one of Chef Art Smith’s restaurants. Chef Art Smith is a friend of mine, and the name of his restaurant is Homecomin, so that’s how he dubbed me the name Mr. Homecomin,” said Hickman.

What are Hickman’s underwear preferences?

“Boxer briefs, and any of the athletic ones. I like synthetic fibers. I have some Adidas, Reebok and Under Armour, as long as it’s synthetic,” said Hickman.

If Hickman’s mantra was a hashtag, what would it be and why?

“#NoPainNoGain, in my experience, anything in life takes at
least some sort of sacrifice. Especially your time, which is probably the most important thing you have. You can always make more money, you can do more things, but the time you have is important. So we all sacrifice something to gain something. A lot of times, it’s going to be that time, so obviously, no pain, no gain,” said Hickman.

What was Hickman’s most memorable year?

“My most memorable year, was probably my busiest. I was working full-time as a firefighter EMT, I was going to the law enforcement academy as well, and my daughter was born. I had a newborn, I was working full time and I was going to school full time. Yeah, a lot of times, I look back on that, and I have friends who were with me during that time, and there like man, I don’t know how you do it. Honestly, I look back at it, and I’m not quite sure how I did it.
So, as a firefighter EMT, you had to work 24-hour shifts. So, I would, during the week,  I had school from 8-5, my shift ran from 7:00 in the morning to 7:00 the next morning. So, I would have to take the first part of my shift off, with my vacation time. I needed school, so as soon as we were left out at 5:00, the school was an hour away from my station. So at 5, I was out the door, because I didn’t know what kind of traffic I was going to get. Then, I would get to the station, for the back half of my 24-hour shift, and I was on the third busiest truck in the department so, I didn’t get much sleep. Then, at 7:00 in the morning, because class starts at 8, I was hoping my relief was on time, and I didn’t have any late calls,  and I was out the door going back to school.  Then, I got off school,  and I got home and I took care of my baby girl, who was a newborn. So, I was burning the candle at both ends, I guess that goes back to no pain no gain, to get ahead, you have to sacrifice something, though, it was a lot of time,” said Hickman.

Hickman says that his daughter already has the one quality he would leave her, stubborn determination.

“If I could leave my daughter, one quality, fortunately, and unfortunately, she already has it. It’s that stubborn determination, she very much so takes after me. I think that if you have that ability to kind of put your head down and push because the world isn’t going to give you anything free, you’re going to have to work for it. Which goes back to no pain no gain. If you have that stubborn determination to push through those tough times, you will get whatever it is you aim for. So, I am blessed that, she does tend to take after me in both a good and bad aspect,” said Hickman.

What does Hickman enjoy most about being a B Physique athlete?

“The comradery, by far. I am blessed to have the networking of this team. We have several different mediums that we communicate through and several group chats. I think when you compete, it’s a big test of your own personal will. I think if you experience that with other people and they experience that as well, you need to learn from each other, without that dreaded experience sometimes. So, the comradery that you get from these guys and the life experience that tends to get shared, it becomes a family.
I mean my coach alone, I meet her through this process, and she is a very good friend of mine. I’ve been to her wedding. You become a sense of family. A lot of different people from a lot of different walks of life. Our male team is also connected to a female team, with bombshell athletes. So it was a very good thing for my daughter. She loves going to the shows, but she is also able to see strong-willed women and how they handle themselves. It was a great learning experience for her as well. The family and learning dynamic there, is irreplaceable,” said Hickman on B Physique.

Eric Lamb

I recently had an opportunity to speak to Eric Lamb, Tampa’s businessman & fitness enthusiast.

By: Joshua Conner

I have been a follower of Eric Lamb, ever since I observed one of his Instagram posts. It was of a photo shoot, that he was apart of with CJC Photography accompanied by an introspective quote. Lamb, is a North East Account Manager for Anazaohealth Corporation, and he models for: Alexa Models, Benz Model & Talent Agency and Professional Pretty Model & Talent Agency.

What is a day in the life of Lamb like?

“A day in my life, 6 days a week,  I get up in the morning like 4:30 or 5 am and I go to the gym. I get my workout done, then I come home and fix breakfast. Then during the week, if I’m not traveling for work, out-of-state, then I’m in the office from 6 am to 4:30 pm. I’m in pharmaceutical sales, so I handle a big book of business Monday through Friday. I come home at about 5:00, then I do some sort of cardio, either go for a walk or bike ride, something like that. I try to get outside for a little bit, when I get home. After being cooped up all day, and then I come home, get dinner, kind of unwind and go to bed by 10:00, on a good day. On Sundays, it’s usually my day at the beach, so I can’t complain,” said Lamb.

Lamb’s mantra is take every opportunity that’s presented to you.

“I’ve had some pretty crazy opportunities presented to me that my past self would have never done, or would have put off. As of recently, I took those chances, and they paid off. Just taking every opportunity that’s presented, obviously don’t take it if it’s stupid or illegal or anything like that. If it’s a legit opportunity then take it,  even if it’s outside of your comfort zone. Kind of like modeling, I did a photo shoot with a guy about a year and a half ago or so, he contacted me. It’s something I never would have done in the past. I said why not, it’s kind of paid off now, slowly but surely,” said Lamb.

Lamb says that if he could sign on with any Major League Baseball team, it would be the Atlanta Braves.

“So MLB, was my dream, like it was my passion growing up. My favorite team growing up was the Atlanta Braves, so I would have to go with them. Although, I am personal to the Mets now, a little bit. One of my good friends that I grew up with, and played with, he plays for the Mets now, so I am personal to them. I still have to choose the Braves, that’s my team through and through,” said Lamb.

What does Lamb prefer boxers, briefs or boxer briefs and what are his favorite brand?

“Let’s see, recently, I have switched to briefs, if I am being honest. I have big thighs and I don’t like you can see the boxer briefs line on my thighs, cause my pants are too tight. Which is not a bad thing, I guess, but I have recently switched to briefs, which I never thought I do, but I actually like them. The company I use is called pair of thieves,” said Lamb on his preference.

Lamb said that if he could model for any national brand it would be Under Armour.

“Oh man, let’s see, there’s a lot out there, it would have to be something athletic because of my build. I use to want to be a Calvin Klein model or Abercrombie model, but I don’t think that suits me so much anymore, I’m to big for that now. I think some modeling for say Under Armour, that would be pretty awesome. Yeah I’d say Under Armour,” said Lamb.

Lamb says that Jesse Palmer would play him in a movie and the title of his life story would be, “take a chance”.
