Shawn Pierce

I recently had an opportunity to speak with brawny and bold believer Shawn Pierce.

By: Joshua Conner

Shawn “The Shredded Chef” Pierce, is a precision prepping chef, menu/health/fitness coach, and humble Christian. Pierce inspires me because of his physique, delicious food posts, faith, and humor.

Pierce is as big and bold in personality, as the story of his first tattoo.

“I got my first tattoo, in high school, behind my family’s back. So, I went to a tattoo parlor, forging my parent’s signature, because at the time, back in ninety-six all you needed if you weren’t twenty-one yet, was your parent’s signature like a permission slip, basically. So, I went outside and forged it, and I pretended my parents were there in the car. The tattoo artist clearly knew that was not the case.

I forged the signature and it was a two-day event because it was one day of outlining. The first day was just two hours of just the outline, then he picked me up from high school the next day, which was odd and strange. On the way to the tattoo parlor, he was smoking all this pot. I was so nervous at the time, because I was very uptight and not exposed to any of that before, so I was really worried about someone doing a tattoo on me that was really stoned. So, I was like oh shit! He was like don’t worry, it just makes me more creative and really able to get in the zone. I heard him and I was really freaked out. Then, for four hours he did the rest of the tattoo, and I had a friend pick me up from the tattoo parlor.

I hide the tattoos from my family for two months, because it happened in the wintertime. So, I wore a long sleeve shirt every day, and I never let my family see me without a shirt on. I hide this gigantic tattoo on my arm, my shoulder and all the way down to my forearm because it was a very large tattoo for a first one.

Most people get a small tattoo, but I went for big and bold, I got a big dragon on my arm. It really didn’t have any meaning to it. I really wanted to get a big tattoo, it was black and gray. He was a great artist, I would just come to learn through getting more tattoos that all tattoo artists are very unique individuals. They have their own ways of living their lives,” said Pierce.

Pierce gave a lucid title to his life story and choose another big and bold personality to play him in a movie.

“The title, I would say Redemption, and who would play me in a movie? Oh boy, that’s an easy one, The Rock,” said Pierce.

Pierce’s most memorable year was 2000, the year that his son was born. If Pierce could leave his son one quality, it would be positivity.

What does Pierce love about being a chef?

“What do I love about being a chef, well I love food. I just love being able to work with something that I love to be around, I love to eat, I love to prepare food, I love to feed other people and I love being around food,” said Pierce.

What are Pierce’s underwear preferences?

“Boxer briefs and I like sports brands because they are really active. Under Armour makes really great boxer briefs, there stretchy and they also look very good on me, so definitely Under Armour,” said Pierce.

Pierce’s favorite inspirational quote is from a poem by Dylan Thomas, “Do not go gentle into that good night, rage, rage against the dying of the light.”

If Pierce could cook a meal, with anyone died or alive, who would it be and what would he serve them?

“I would say because I am religious, I would say Jesus. What would I serve him? That would be tough, I would say some sort of seafood, obviously because being a Christian man. I would want to fix him something he would like, so I would have to say seafood would be my go-to,” said Pierce.

What is Pierce’s mission in the world?

“My mission, I just want to be able to find a way to help people,” said Pierce.

Derek Newborn

I recently had an opportunity to speak with the good looking and brawny personal trainer Derek Newborn.

By: Joshua Conner

Derek Newborn is a certified personal trainer and model with Cr2 Talent_Miami, based in Fort Myers, Florida. Newborn was named “South Florida’s Top Personal Trainer by FitNation magazine and Newborn, “helps the common gym-goers take their bodies and their minds to the next level.” I am inspired by Newborn’s great physique, his prolific content creation, style, and handsome bald head.

What was Newborn’s most memorable year?

“My most memorable year was 2001 when my son was born. I had to figure out things really fast, at the age of 16, so it was a lot of memories in one year,” said Newborn.

If Newborn could leave his son one quality it would be the quality of kindness.

“One quality, it would be a quality of kindness because kindness always prevails, and kindness always wins, in the end, no matter what,” said Newborn.

What is the story behind Newborn’s first tattoo?

“My very first tattoo is my initials and my son’s initials that I got when I was 17, during my senior trip to the Bahamas. I got it at a really shady tattoo parlor. I was not sober when I got it, but it’s still there, but it’s cool,” said Newborn.

What are Newborn’s underwear preferences?

“I wear boxer briefs, and my favorite brand is probably Calvin Klein because they are comfortable and they fit good, haha,” said Newborn.

If Newborn could produce a TedTalk on any topic, it would be about mental health.

“I would do a Ted Talk on mental health because I think it’s overlooked and people are embarrassed and uncomfortable to talk about it. I would talk about mental health, how prevalent it is and how common it is, but no one really talks about it,” said Newborn.

If Newborn could have a conversation with anyone died or alive, it would be with Paulo Coelho.

“They can be dead or alive, I would want to talk to Paulo Coelho, author of The Alchemist. He wrote a thought, that was one of the biggest factors of my life, as far as getting through many of life’s ups and downs. So I would have a conversation with him. That would be a once in a lifetime opportunity to tell him how much his book changed my life,” said Newborn.

What is Newborn’s life mission?

“My mission in the world is to help others including myself to reach their full potential, whatever that looks like for an individual. So I try to kind of shine some kind of light, so they know how to reach their full potential and believe in themselves,” said Newborn.

What would be the title of Newborn’s life story and who would play him in a movie?

“The title of my life story would probably be called Living. I’ve lived a lot, for the number of years that I have been here. People are surprised at how many life experiences I have had in such a short amount of time. I would like to say The Rock would play me,” said Newborn.

Greg Woerdeman

I recently had an opportunity to speak with Greg Woerdeman also known as TDOT Hottie, whose good looks are only outmatched by his work ethic.

By: Joshua Conner

Greg Woerdeman is a TDOT District Operations Supervisor & viral internet sensation based in Nashville, Tennessee.

What is a day in the life of Greg like?

“I guess a regular working day, it’s getting up by 5:00, I’m out of bed every morning. Walk the dog, grab all my food, that’s already prepped & throwing it my lunchbox. I’m usually at work by 6:00, and I work till at least 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Then, I come home, grab a quick bite, and get some gym time. When I get home, Torrey’s home, and we get some Greg & Torrey time in there a little bit. I might actually work a little bit more, if I have a lot to do, if not I’ll just kind of cuddle up on the couch with the dog & her, and try to relax a little bit. Then we eat some ice cream,” said Woerdeman.

“He eats ice cream all the time,” said Torrey Peak, Woerdeman’s girlfriend & photographer.

What ice cream flavor is most like Woerdeman?

“He’s pretty vanilla, haha,” said Peak.

“Probably vanilla, but here is what I do with it, so on a side note, I get vanilla ice cream & I put a bunch of stuff in it. I put Nutella, peanut butter, sprinkles, little brownie pieces and Oreos altogether, and I indulge in it. It starts out as vanilla though,” said Woerdeman.

What would be the title of Woerdeman’s life story and who would play him in a movie?

“That’s a good one, I know Torrey would want Jason Statham to play me, I would want the Rock to play me. As far as like the title of my life story, oh that’s a tough question, “Who would have thought?”, would be a good one & the subtitle would be, “Just a regular guy.” said Woerdeman.

What is Woerdeman’s underwear preferences?

“Oh boxer briefs, definitely, and favorite brand is, Torrey is yelling at me, that I rather go commando, which is true around the house, but not in public. For me, it’s boxer briefs, and as far as brand, it doesn’t really matter, but whatever feels the softest,” said Woerdeman.

If Woerdeman was drafted to any National League Football team, it would be the Titans because it’s local and he would play linebacker.

What was Woerdeman’s most memorable year?

“My most memorable year, that’s tough. I would probably say, this past year, because my career has done really well for the most part. I’ve switched from construction to maintenance at work, and that’s done really well, and all of a sudden, I go viral. There has been a lot happening,” said Woerdeman.

How does Woerdeman feel being known as the TDOT Hottie?

“It’s actually kind of nice, I guess I am kind of flattered, that I have my own hashtag in the first place. It’s just kind of nice, that I can represent our department as a whole in a positive way, and just be able to cut up about it. A lot of people don’t think of state workers as being in shape, or at least bit attractive, I guess it kind of maybe make a trend. That just because you work for the government, doesn’t mean you’re a fat old guy, you’re an in shape dude,” said Woerdeman.

This post would not have been possible without the coordination of Torrey Peak of Torrey Peak Photography.
