Luis Montoya

I recently had an opportunity to speak with blessed & charismatic model and trainer Luis Montoya.

By: Joshua Conner

Luis Montoya is a CEO/Celebrity Trainer, keynote speaker, online health/nutrition coach and one percent nutrition athlete, based in California. Montoya inspires me professionally and personally. Professionally, I am inspired by how Montoya has created a successful business and brand. Personally, I am inspired by Montoya’s faith, physique, style, and didactic Instagram posts.

What would be the title of Montoya’s life story and who would play him in a movie?

“Let’s see the title of the movie would probably be, the art of never giving up. I think Jim Carrey, I love Jim Carrey, I think he is a very funny guy, like myself. So, I think he would do an amazing job. When it comes to being serious, he can be very serious and so am I,” said Montoya.

What was Montoya’s most memorable year?

“My most memorable year would probably be 2016 because I think this was the year that everything started to make sense for me. I had a breakthrough in the fitness industry. I did my very first professional photo shoot with Noel Daganta, and it was just mind-blowing. I think that moment and that year, so many things just started to make sense. That was the first year that I started believing in myself, as much as people believed in me, and it just took me to a whole new level,” said Montoya.

Montoya is so stylish, how does he pick out his wardrobe?

“Let’s see, I like to keep a modern twist in my style. So, I like the gentleman look, but when it comes to casual wear, I try to keep it modern and fun. I do shop at stores like H & M, and Express. What I try to do is, always go for a fit that I see fits my physique. I always try to pick out items, based on whatever season is in. So, I do like dark colors, but I think it’s a time and a place for everything. So, if I’m going out on a date or something like that, I always wear black. I think it’s very seductive and classy. If I’m going out with my friends, like going out to the park, or concert or something like that, I really try to wear more vibrant colors like olive green or maroon, colors that never go out of style,” said Montoya.

If Montoya’s mantra was a hashtag, it would be, #faith.

“Faith is everything for me,” said Montoya.

Montoya would describe his brand as, “faith, health and wealth”.

What is Montoya’s favorite inspirational quote?

“You know what, I actually have a tattoo on my arm. This is from the very famous Greg Plitt. Greg Plitt played a very big role in my transformation. I considered him an angel, that God sent to me, to pick me up from the worst time that I had. I was at my worst, and I was at the border of committing suicide, and life was just making no sense. I discovered Greg Plitt, who ended up passing away, but he was a famous fitness cover model. There was this quote that always stuck with me, and I have it on my arm and it says, “Second by second, you lose the opportunity to become who you really want to be, take charge of your life,” said Greg Plitt.
That was such a powerful quote, that I ended up getting it on my arm, as a tribute to him, with a clock ticking. So every time I look at, it reminds me that every second counts. Every second is an opportunity to become the person, that I want to become. I gotta take chances in my life, and it’s up to me to create that,” said Montoya.

If Montoya could do any workout with Greg Plitt, it would be a full body workout.

“Oh, my God, you know what, I wanna say a shoulder workout, but I’m going to go ahead and say a full body workout. Full body workout, because I have seen his YouTube videos, where he does his full body workout outdoors. It’s just incredible to see Greg Plitt, put his body through so much,  I think it would be an amazing workout to be able to experience that with him,” said Montoya.

If Montoya could have a conversation with anyone died or alive, who would it be and what would they talk about?

“I would have to go with Greg Plitt one more time. There are so many people that I look up to, but it would be Greg Plitt because I think he has had such a big impact on my life. The conversation would probably be like, he lived his life to the fullest, and I would probably ask him if he could change anything? He probably wouldn’t change anything, if I knew him well, I would know that. I would probably ask him if there was anything else that he would have wanted to do, or did he have any regrets, or if he could do it all over again, would he want a second chance to explore,” said Montoya.

Dr. Amaan Sadruddin

I recently had an opportunity to speak with one of Chicago’s handsome, astute & creative Renaissance Man Dr. Amaan Sadruddin.

By: Joshua Conner

Dr. Amaan Sadruddin is a doctor specializing in surgery and medicine, electronic music producer and model based in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Sadruddin inspires me both professionally and personally. Professionally, I am inspired by Dr. Sadruddin passion for helping his patients and their families, his work ethics, and how versatile his brand is. Personally, I am inspired by Dr. Sadruddin musicality, style, physique, and his creativity.

What would be the title of Dr. Sadruddin life story and who would play him in a movie?

“That’s a tough one because I have to put myself in a slightly narcissistic situation, which is very hard to do. Title of the movie would be, go after it. I’m a very simple guy, that’s just how it would be. I think anyone would be able to play that movie. I don’t know, I don’t watch many movies, so that’s a really hard thing. I think I’d go with Johnny Depp, because of the way, he can switch characters really fast. If you see his movies, he can switch so beautifully and so fast. So, it’s the same for me, if I’m working in the hospital,  I have a different demeanor, and I don’t think the same way. If I’m back here, and I’m working on the creative stuff, then everything just changes,”said Dr. Sadruddin.

Dr. Sadruddin most memorable year, was last year, although he is expecting great things for this year.

“Most memorable year, you know what it would be this year. I got a chance, to do a lot of things, but since you asked specifically, it’s a really tough one, because you always want to look at the best of what is happening. This year has just started, so there is so much up ahead. Last year, was great, I meet a lot of interesting people and a lot of creative individuals. Just to see that vibe of people, not worrying about other things, and just for the sake of creating. Some people not doing it for the money, and really beautiful things can come from places like that. I would say last year, but this year was fantastic too,” said Dr. Sadruddin.

If Dr. Sadruddin mantra was a hashtag, it would be #committed.

“It would be committed, because I think that I am the type of individual, that if I say something, the least I have to do is be aware of what I said. If I say I am going to do something, I’ll take time out of my day, to figure out how I can spare it as much as I can. Sometimes, you put too much on your plate, and it’s really hard to bring it all together. I guess it would just be committed because that’s how it’s meant to be,” said Dr. Sadruddin.

What Dr. Sadruddin, enjoys most about being a doctor is the response.

“What do I enjoy most about being a doctor,  I think it’s the response. It’s just you can see emotions change so fast, and it works both ways. You can see them go from terribly worried to extremely relieved, it can also go the other way, they could be really well, and go to like instant pain. I’ve seen people shift when they come in, cause they happen to see one of their family members, and they walk in, and they see what happens to them, and the whole dynamic just changes. You can see the ripple effect, it’s like you see him going into shock, then the next family member,  and then the next. It really teaches you not to play around with your life,” said Dr. Sadruddin.

Extra Multimedia Content: In my first YouTube Video for joshuaconner.org, I talk to Dr. Sadruddin about modeling for national brands, and music.

Clint Hayslett

I recently had an opportunity to speak with charismatic family man & handsome aspiring model Clint Hayslett.

By: Joshua Conner

Clint Hayslett is a fashion model, who became an internet sensation after a tweet produced by his son Collin Hayslett, went viral.

What would be the title of Hayslett life story and who would play him in a movie?

“I would hope, that maybe Bradley Cooper could play it. That would be great because I think he has a wonderful passion. The title of my life story would be along the lines of, The rest of the story, because  I don’t know everything. The rest of the story is coming to me every day. Everyone else thinks they know it by what they see, but I like to go deeper and add a lot more life to my story,” said Hayslett.

What was Hayslett most memorable year?

“I would have to say this one, I think this year has been quite interesting already. Yeah, 2019, is going to be my most memorable year so far. There has been a lot of stuff that has happened, and like I said the rest of the story unfolding. I never would have dreamed, it would have been the way it has been, ” said Hayslett.

What is Hayslett life philosophy?

“My life philosophy would be live for God, no matter what,” said Hayslett.

Hayslett favorite inspirational quote was what John the Baptist said, in John 3:30, regarding how he was not allowing himself to be greater with his own popularity. “He must increase, but I must decrease.”

“It’s a nice way of just stepping aside and just not being at the first of anything. That’s scripture, but I have quoted it for the last few years, and I’m just trying to live that out. It’s a really humble quote, so I really appreciate that,” said Hayslett.

If Hayslett were able to leave one quality to his kids, it would be to have character in everything they do.

“If I could leave my kids one quality, I think it would be to have character in everything you do, because really no matter how you look, your character is what matters the most. You can go further with character, than just about anything else in your life,” said Hayslett.

How does Hayslett feel about being known as the “hot model dad?

“Well, it’s very interesting, because I never would have called myself that. So, you always have to listen to everybody else, I am always my biggest critic. So, no matter what they call me, I am always not going to believe him. I am very humbled, grateful and appreciative. At 45 years old, I am very grateful at what people say about me. Even, more than that, one of these days, I won’t be hot model dad, I’ll still be Clint Hayslett. I want to be a man who matters to this world, and be a man of character,” said Hayslett.

What advice does Hayslett have for people on reinventing themselves?

“No matter what, you still need to be yourself. When you are reinventing yourself, don’t be someone else. Just be you, but an aspect, that you haven’t seen or shown before. That’s the best part, I could reinvent myself, and try to be someone else, but that’s really just trying to be them. It’s not something new. There may just be an aspect of yourself that you haven’t seen, and it might be reinventing you. It’s the same you, but different characteristics and traits coming out. So a new you, but not somebody else,” said Hayslett.

Hunter Arnold

I recently had an opportunity to speak with one of Tennessee’s hunky entrepreneur Hunter Arnold.

By: Joshua Conner

Hunter Arnold, is an entrepreneur, WFG Financial Planner, and NPC Competitor based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Arnold inspires me personally and professionally. Personally, I am inspired by Arnold’s body of work and his dedication to fitness. Professionally, I am inspired by how Arnold’s work ethics and how he has successfully created a foundation in three different industries.

What would be the title of Arnold’s life story and who would play him in a movie?

“The title of my life story, let’s see, I would say unexpected. Who would play me, I look like Mark Wahlberg, so I’m going to say, Mark Wahlberg,” said Arnold.

What was Arnold’s most memorable year?

“I would say, my most memorable year was actually this past year 2018. I just had a lot going for me in 2018. 2017, was kind of, I don’t want to say it was a rough year, but it was kind of like a down year for me, then 2018, I just really like burst out. My bodybuilding and my modeling career kind of took off, and I went to Aruba. It was really just a great year,” said Arnold.

If Arnold’s mantra was a hashtag it would be #BeyondDriven.

“I’m not sure, maybe #BeyondDriven, just because, everyone says it’s motivated, but I feel like motivation is kind of overrated. If you don’t do anything with the motivation, then it’s not really anything, but if you have a driving force behind it, then it kind of creates both of them,” said Arnold.

What does Arnold enjoy about being an NPC Competitor?

“I enjoy honestly, the discipline that goes into the training, it’s my favorite thing about it,” said Arnold.

Arnold is also a financial planner, “We started a free financial planning center, here in Chattanooga.  The one thing that I would say is kind of unique about it, is that it’s open to everyone, unlike most other financial planning centers,” he said.

If Arnold could get drafted by any National Football League team, it would be the Miami Dolphins.

“I honestly, would love to play for the Miami Dolphins. Just, because I want to live in Miami, that’s a dream of mine. I played safety and linebacker, in high school, so I would probably choose one of them. I like safety better so I would play safety,” said Arnold.

If you could go fishing anywhere, where would you go?

“Probably, Jupiter, Florida, because it’s the saltwater capital of the world,” said Arnold.

Anthony Ferkel

I recently had an opportunity to speak with one of Generation X’s handsome & motivational coaches Anthony Ferkel.

By: Joshua Conner

Anthony Ferkel is a NASM certified personal trainer and nutrition coach. Ferkel inspires me both personally and professionally. Personally, I am inspired by Ferkel’s physique, style, and his didactic Instagram posts. Professionally, I am inspired by how Ferkel has diversified his brand and how he uses his platform to spread positivity.

What would be the title of Ferkel’s life story and who would play him in a movie?

“The title of my life story, it would be either show love or something about love, yeah, one of those two. Who would play me, I have to think about that one, let’s see, the guy who played in the Matrix movies, Keanu Reeves,” said Ferkel.

If Ferkel’s mantra was a hashtag, it would be #goodattitude.

“Good attitude, because a good attitude is just so important in so many ways, you know. Having a good attitude is, important because you can’t have a good lifestyle without a good attitude. Then surrounding yourself with people who have good attitudes, because people who don’t have good attitudes can really be toxic to you. So #goodattitude,” said Ferkel.

What are Ferkel’s underwear preferences?

Boxer briefs for sure and Me Undies,” says Ferkel.

What does Ferkel enjoy most about being a personal trainer?

“Just that every day is different, and every client is different, so you never get bored. I think that’s the biggest thing, you know, I’m a people person and I like being around people.

Ferkel also operates a health and wellness website with his fiancé Kimberly Cohen, called K and A Fitnessen. What is one sentence would he like people to use to describe it?

“To inspire people to do better and be healthy,” said Ferkel.

How did Ferkel get involved in Jade Recovery?

“Life is about who you know, my fiancé is friends with the husband of the owner of Jade Recovery. I meet him a few years ago, and he knew I was more than a trainer. He knew that I wanted to do life coaching, nutrition, and mental health. He just told me about jade recovery and brought me in. He said that I could definitely use you. Then, he started having me write the curriculum, working in traumatic brain injuries and mental health. Everything is related, it’s not just about training, it’s not just about emotions, it’s just all connected,” said Ferkel.

If Ferkel could leave one quality to his son, it would be joy.

“Honestly, I think if I could leave him one quality, it would be joy. Personally, I believe you need to get joy, from a higher power, and if you have joy, you can encourage, inspire, motivate, and lead people without having to say anything. They just look at your life-like wow, I want to be like that. So joy, it’s more than happy, joy is just that inner peace. I think joy would be that one quality,” said Ferkel.

If Ferkel could have a conversation with any three people died or alive, they would be Denzel Washington, King David, and Margaret Thatcher.

“If I could have a conversation with anyone, one would be Denzel Washington, because just the fact, he’s successful, he’s an actor, but you can see he has a good head on his shoulders. I think we would just talk about life. I’ve always looked up to King David in the Bible. Just because, King David has been through all walks of life, he went down the wrong path and he turned his life around. I just think it would be unbelievable to meet him. I would love to meet Margaret Thatcher and have a conversation on leadership,” said Ferkel.

Michael Villani

I recently had an opportunity to speak with one of Chicago’s handsome personal trainers from the land down under, Michael Villani.

By: Joshua Conner

Michael Villani is a personal trainer at HiFi Fitness, based in Chicago, Illinois and from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Villani inspires me professionally and personally. Villani inspires me professionally, because of how he was able to reinvent himself and how he trains and manages at one Chicago’s top-notch gyms. Villani inspires me personally because of his authenticity, humor, physique, and passion.

What is a day in the life of Villani like?

“Well, life has changed dramatically for me, because of the birth of my son, almost 5 months ago. I get up at 5 am every day, walking the dog, being as quiet as I can, not waking the baby, then getting my butt to hifi, then starting work. Being a personal trainer, it’s always early morning and late evenings. So, I try to live what I preach. I start the day bright and early, eating healthy, and working out. Even if I’m not feeling good, I at least try to get a 30-minute workout in a day. Days when I am feeling good,  I’ll go for an hour and a half. I make sure that I use the energy that I have got, to the best of my ability. Even the days, I am not feeling as good, I always have those low days, I am always trying to do something.
Even, if it’s just a rubbish workout, I would have to do something. Just to get the body moving, because a healthy body leads to a healthy mind.
Most of my day is spent personally training clients, managing the gym at HiFi Fitness and trying to help as many people as I can. I try my best, every day not just to live for myself, but for others. Every day, I am looking for an opportunity, where I can help someone in the simplest way possible,” said Villani.

What would be the title of Villani’s life story and who would play him in a movie?

“I would like to say Hugh Jackman could do a good job of playing me in a movie, just being another boy from down under. Mainly, just because, I always wanted to see myself as a good-looking Australian, and he is probably one of the best looking Australians around, ha-ha.
The title of my movie would be shit happens, that’s probably been the theme of my life. Of all the bad things that have happened to me, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. So, everything that has gone on in my life, you know back in Australia. I was married, got divorced, I worked hard, had a nice car, and everything. I gave it all up, I had to get rid of it after the divorce. Obviously, that lead me to where I am in Chicago, of all the bad things that happened to me in life, I probably wouldn’t change a thing. So shit happens, and shit got good again,” said Villani.

If Villani’s mantra was a hashtag it would be #cutthebullshit.

“Well, going along with the same theme, I would say #cutthebullshit, ha-ha. I am a straight shooter, so you know I sort of think that cutting away the bullshit.  I don’t like to live in a false reality, I like to live and confront my reality. I don’t try to hide away from anything. If I have a flaw, I try to identify my flaws as best as I can. I have open and honest conversations with myself, you know, to try to cut the bullshit out of my own life. So, basically, a lot of people today, just have their heads in the clouds, I think you need to accept reality.
So, the first thing I do with myself is cut away the bullshit and face reality. If I have a problem, deal with it, don’t just hide it. Don’t think your insecurities are a bad thing. Look at your insecurities, identify them and work on them. Everyone is trying to put on a facade, especially with social media. You want to show realness, you want to show your weakness. I find you can have strength in your weaknesses, you can accomplish anything,” said Villani.

What are Villani’s underwear preferences?

“I am a boxer briefs kind of guy. I like the firm boxers, they hold everything a bit more comfortably. My favorite brand is called Bonds, it’s actually an Australian company. I’ve only been wearing bonds for as long as I can remember. So, I get my underwear imported, it’s an Australian brand, but it comes from China,” said Villani.

What is the story behind Villani’s first tattoo?

“Well,  I got my first tattoo, way back in 2011. It was a tribal pattern on my arm. Tribal, was a big thing, way back in the late 90s and early 2000s, especially because of a movie called Blade with Wesley Snipes. So in Blade 2, Wesley Snipes, came out covered in these tribal tattoos, on both arms, leading up to the chest and all up his back. I was like,  I want that. So, I got my left arm and left shoulder done in tribal tattoos. Then, I am thinking, I’m not Wesley Snipes, I’m not a 6’2, good-looking black dude. I just came out poor out of Australia, so that was the first tattoo I got.
Then, I got 2 more tattoos. I got one of St. Michael on my forearm. St. Michael is the archangel and defender of heaven. Even, though I am not religious, I thought it was a cool story. Then, I got the four horsemen of the apocalypse above that. So, I love the stories of the Bible, but I am not religious. The four horsemen represent conquest, war, famine, and death,” said Villani.

What does Villani enjoy most about training at HiFi Fitness?

“Well, the reason I am still in Chicago is because of HiFi Fitness. So, when I came to Chicago in 2014, I came here on a whim, I was chasing a girl and it didn’t really work out. I was planning to go travel the world, I brought my snowboard with me. I was going to Austria and Switzerland, work as a ski lift operator out there and then I would end up back in Australia. Meeting the guys at HiFi Fitness Gregg and Drew, those were the ones, that sort of enticed me and befriended me to stay. It’s the people who I love most HiFi Fitness. HiFi Fitness is probably like its own little soap opera, we can have a reality show about all the drama that happens, but I love it, I really do, that’s what keeps me here,” said Villani.

If Villani could have a conversation with anyone died or alive, it would be with Bruce Lee.

“Bruce Lee, Bruce Lee, is my mentor. Obviously, I’ve never met the guy, he died 50 years before I born. Bruce Lee has always been my idol and the archetype that I am always tried to model myself on. Obviously, I am light years away, being anywhere near what Bruce Lee would have been. He is probably one of the greatest and phenomenal minds of the 20th century. I always try to apply his teachings to my everyday life. I just try to work as hard as he did, he was one of the hardest working people of his time. From what he achieved, coming from an immigrant family and making it huge in a very latent time in America. He was able to rise above all of that and solidify who he was, Bruce Lee is my number one,” said Villani.

Lior Ofir

I recently had an opportunity to speak with security professional and BJJ brown belt Lior Ofir.

By: Joshua Conner

Lior Ofir is a defensive tactics specialist & vice president of Embassy Security Group, based in Chicago, Illinois. Ofir inspires me professionally and personally. Professionally, I am inspired because of how he successfully co-manages a security company. Personally, I am inspired by his physique, motivational speaking, and dedication to BJJ.

What is a day in the life of Ofir like?

“Actually every day is different, but it starts with me waking up really early in the morning, sometime around 6. I always start the day with my normal routine, which is drinking a glass of water, brushing my teeth, and going to the gym, normally at the start of my day. Then, I have meetings and I explore more opportunities with my security company and teaching self-defense concepts. Then, I come back home, and with my new baby and my wife, just sit, eat dinner and watch Netflix,” said Ofir.

Gladiator would be the title of Ofir’s life story and he would play himself in a movie.

If Ofir could leave his child one quality it would be grit.

“Grit would be one quality because life is full of ups and downs and there are always surprises, nothing is easy. So, we just need to prepare for and hope for the best case scenario instead of the worst case scenario, come with the right attitude, smile and understand that difficulties are apart of the experience. We are fortunate to be here, so we need to appreciate every day. If it’s not hard, or challenging, then it’s not really an accomplishment. You have to accept it and enjoy the ride, no matter how hard it is,” said Ofir.

What was Ofir’s most memorable year?

“Probably last year, because I had so many new things going on. I was involved in a competition on the jiu-jitsu field, and it went well, although I was injured. I opened up my new business, I was looking forward to that. I have a new baby, so I definitely think last year was amazing for me,” said Ofir.

How would Ofir describe his security company?

“I would say, first of all, our mission is to help different communities. The way we do it is not trying to push people to exceed their budget, but we are trying to find the most cost-effective way to increase the security level, by educating and teaching people how to do it. Most security companies are just pushing for security officers and technologies. We are doing that, but we are also trying to push people to really understand the protocols and procedures in everything we are doing. There was a quote by Benjamin Franklin, that I live my life by, ‘tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.’ I really like it, because at the end of the day, especially in security, but I think in everything in life,  every company, the more you involve the team, the members and the guests even, the better one organized unit it becomes,” said Ofir.
