Ben Fritz

I recently had an opportunity to speak with Ben Fritz, whose work ethic is as inspiring as his doughnuts.

By: Joshua Conner

One of my main motivations for featuring Ben Fritz is because he is the best of both worlds. His work ethics, motivational social media presence & entrepreneurial spirit, inspires me personally & professionally. While the company he co-founded Beacon Doughnuts provides not only scrumptious doughnuts, but is also a brand that positively impacts people. Fritz is a personal growth coach and co-founder of Beacon Doughnuts, based in Chicago, Illinois.

What is a day in the life of Fritz like?

“I usually get up at, let’s say 6 am. I get up, journal. So what journaling looks like for me, is basically freewrite, I have like a big notebook so, I just freewrite, one of those large pages, until I’m done. So it’s like stream of consciousness, I don’t have a specific topic or anything.  Then after that I’ll write a gratitude list of 5 things that I am thankful for. I do a 10 minute meditation using the calm app, and then at that point, I’m ready to eat some breakfast. I get my breakfast, and then I head to the gym, and train a few sessions. Then I come back somewhere along lunch time. I come back, I make some lunch, then I’ll relax for an hour or so.

Usually for the middle part of the afternoon, from 1:30 to 4:30, I’ll do administrative type of stuff, and I’ll write anything that I need to get done. If I have errands to do, I’ll take care of that in that part of the day. Then I will go back to the gym for a couple of sessions at night or I’ll do some of my life coaching calls with clients. Then usually around 7:30 or so, I’ll call it quits for the night. I just try to eat my last bite of food, hanging out with my fiancé and my dog, do a little reading, watch some Netflix, and just some random relaxing time, and try to be in bed around 10:00,” said Fritz.

Fritz often posts insightful quotes on his Instagram, but which one is his favorite?

“Oh man, that’s a really good one, let’s see. That’s a hard one to narrow down, I have so many good ones. Oh, I’ve got a good one, I actually have it saved to use as a post on social media at some point, but the quote is:

“May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears,” said Nelson Mandela.

I know that it’s short, but so insightful at the same time,” said Fritz.

Fritz says the title of his life story would be, “You never know,” and Bradley Cooper would play him in a movie.

What donut matches Fritz personality?

“You know, I’m actually going to go with an old-fashioned, because it is very simple, but incredible. To me, I think I have very simple rules that I live my life by and I think it’s a great way to do it,” said Fritz.

Fritz’s most memorable year is this year, although he aspires to make every year memorable.

“I would say this year, and I hope the trend continues. I think if each year of my life is not my most memorable, then I am doing something wrong. It’s been like a crazy year for me, most recently had some health issues, I’ve kind of been in the worst health I’ve been in. That was a big challenge and still parts of it continue to be a challenge. I am grateful, I think it’s been an opportunity to open my eyes, just to me personally and life in general.

I got engaged last year, so it doesn’t quite fall in, I was 15 days short of 2018, but still I’m going to count that. So wedding planning, and learning a lot about my relationship. Which I always love to be learning, especially with someone else, I think you can learn at an even faster rate about yourself and who you are in a relationship, that’s been great,” said Fritz.

Fritz also explained this year is his most memorable because he opened Beacon Doughnuts with his cousin and he started life/personal growth coaching.

“I think just in general this year, because this has been a good year for learning. I hope every year, I’m doing bigger and better things,  but also learning. With learning comes failure and success, and that’s what I want. So this year was great, but I hope to make next year more memorable,” said Fritz.

Ryan Young

I recently had an opportunity to speak with Ryan Young, Los Angeles’s runner, model & adventurer.

By: Joshua Conner

I have always been inspired by Ryan Young: Ultra distance runner, model, social media influencer & creator of RunWithRyan.org. Young is a brilliant writer & social media influencer, he has over 65.4K followers on Instagram & over 7,000 likes on Facebook. Young has also modeled for renowned photographers including: Kevin McDermott, Tony Duran, Serge Lee & Karl Simone to name a few. With every post that Young produces, he gives a followers a passport into his quest of introspection, mindfulness & wonder.

What is a day in the life of Young like?

“What’s a day in the life-like, I wake up, usually grateful every morning. I try to make it a point to wake up in a truly positive state. I am little without my morning cup coffee, so I have some coffee. Then, I try to incorporate something into my life, right off the back. Whether, it’s a podcast, great YouTube video or if I am reading something really positive and it kind of gets me motivated for the day. From there I usually get in my daily run, whatever the like that’s going to be, followed immediately by twenty minutes of mediation. It’s something about going from this extreme physical state, where I am working my heart rate & emotions up, transitioning to this stillness of a mediation. Then I calm back down and settle for the day,” said Young.

Young, then explained how his days could go any number of different ways. Since Young is living in LA, and making a living as a print model, he will have some castings to go to. Young may also spend the day being creative in some way.

“I might have more of a day to focus on writing or creating some videos, basically being creative in some way. Whether that’s being creative with the kind of adventures that I have gone off and done, and putting that into some sort of context, and then kind of putting that out in the world. Or if it’s in fact, being creative,  is planning out something new to take on,” said Young.

Young then does a lifting or cross training session at the gym. In the evening, Young reads, watch the news and relaxes.

“I think taking care of ourselves is important,” said Young.

What is Young’s favorite coffee brand?

“Oh man, haha I have to pick. Well here’s the thing, I love Peet’s Coffee. Yeah, I will just go with Peet’s Coffee, it’s my top choice, but I am always trying all sorts of different coffees. In fact right now, it’s the holiday season,  and I remember last year, at some store, everything was marked down. I found this peppermint infused coffee, it’s normally not my thing, I just like coffee, straight up black roasted, but now I am searching furiously online trying to get it again. I’m always open to any sort of coffees and brews,” said Young.

In an Instagram post, Young stated how inspired he was by essayist Norman Mailer, but what is his favorite Norman Mailer quote?

“I remember he had a great quote, “I don’t think life is absurd. I think we are all here for a huge purpose. I think we shrink from the immersing of the purpose we are here for,” something about that really resonates with me,” said Young.

What does Young prefer boxers, briefs or boxer briefs and what are his favorite brand?

“I have two favorite brands actually, that I go back and forth between. They both end up on my Instagram very frequently. One is a brand called D.Hedral. I just find it moves with me, you know it moves all parts. The other brand is Tani underwear. Which also ends up on Instagram fairly often. That is hands down, the softest material for clothing, I have ever felt. Whether it’s the briefs that I run into wear, or the T-Shirts, or the sweatshirts or the sweats, they are just incredibly soft,” said Young.

What would be the thesis statement of Young’s life?

“What would be the thesis statement of my life, wow. I’m on a mission, I suppose to challenge both my body & mind. I want to push the limits of what I perceive to be possible. In turn I suppose I get to meet like-minded people along the way. I love coming across & meeting people with really interesting stories of themselves: overcoming odds, overcoming challenges, incorporating challenges into their lives & how they are able to keep themselves going. I get a lot of inspiration from that and even in turn, the ending kind of being this circle of inspiration, I suppose that keeps me going & it ends up coming back around,” said Young.

Eric Lamb

I recently had an opportunity to speak to Eric Lamb, Tampa’s businessman & fitness enthusiast.

By: Joshua Conner

I have been a follower of Eric Lamb, ever since I observed one of his Instagram posts. It was of a photo shoot, that he was apart of with CJC Photography accompanied by an introspective quote. Lamb, is a North East Account Manager for Anazaohealth Corporation, and he models for: Alexa Models, Benz Model & Talent Agency and Professional Pretty Model & Talent Agency.

What is a day in the life of Lamb like?

“A day in my life, 6 days a week,  I get up in the morning like 4:30 or 5 am and I go to the gym. I get my workout done, then I come home and fix breakfast. Then during the week, if I’m not traveling for work, out-of-state, then I’m in the office from 6 am to 4:30 pm. I’m in pharmaceutical sales, so I handle a big book of business Monday through Friday. I come home at about 5:00, then I do some sort of cardio, either go for a walk or bike ride, something like that. I try to get outside for a little bit, when I get home. After being cooped up all day, and then I come home, get dinner, kind of unwind and go to bed by 10:00, on a good day. On Sundays, it’s usually my day at the beach, so I can’t complain,” said Lamb.

Lamb’s mantra is take every opportunity that’s presented to you.

“I’ve had some pretty crazy opportunities presented to me that my past self would have never done, or would have put off. As of recently, I took those chances, and they paid off. Just taking every opportunity that’s presented, obviously don’t take it if it’s stupid or illegal or anything like that. If it’s a legit opportunity then take it,  even if it’s outside of your comfort zone. Kind of like modeling, I did a photo shoot with a guy about a year and a half ago or so, he contacted me. It’s something I never would have done in the past. I said why not, it’s kind of paid off now, slowly but surely,” said Lamb.

Lamb says that if he could sign on with any Major League Baseball team, it would be the Atlanta Braves.

“So MLB, was my dream, like it was my passion growing up. My favorite team growing up was the Atlanta Braves, so I would have to go with them. Although, I am personal to the Mets now, a little bit. One of my good friends that I grew up with, and played with, he plays for the Mets now, so I am personal to them. I still have to choose the Braves, that’s my team through and through,” said Lamb.

What does Lamb prefer boxers, briefs or boxer briefs and what are his favorite brand?

“Let’s see, recently, I have switched to briefs, if I am being honest. I have big thighs and I don’t like you can see the boxer briefs line on my thighs, cause my pants are too tight. Which is not a bad thing, I guess, but I have recently switched to briefs, which I never thought I do, but I actually like them. The company I use is called pair of thieves,” said Lamb on his preference.

Lamb said that if he could model for any national brand it would be Under Armour.

“Oh man, let’s see, there’s a lot out there, it would have to be something athletic because of my build. I use to want to be a Calvin Klein model or Abercrombie model, but I don’t think that suits me so much anymore, I’m to big for that now. I think some modeling for say Under Armour, that would be pretty awesome. Yeah I’d say Under Armour,” said Lamb.

Lamb says that Jesse Palmer would play him in a movie and the title of his life story would be, “take a chance”.

Patrick Cronen

I recently had an opportunity to speak to Patrick Cronen, Los Angeles’s versatile actor, mindful writer & proud Libra.

By: Joshua Conner

I have been a fan of Patrick Cronen, SAG-AFTRA actor at Patrick Cronen Inc, Screenwriter, freelance copywriter & editor, ever since I saw how funny he was in a DailyBurn TV Commercial. I was really inspired by his Instagram page, where he gives his followers a look into his spiritual and meditative practices even his morning pages.

What is a day in the life of Cronen like?

“Honestly, it’s a bit of reading, writing and meditation in the morning,” said Cronen

Then Cronen plays with his dogs, takes them on a good walk, then a run and works out in the gym.

“The rest of the day, is usually either auditions, or if I’m on set, working on whatever project, I’m working on that day. If I could get a little DIY in there would also be fun, but that’s usually a day in the life,” said Cronen.

Cronen has also played in popular television shows such as: The Young and the Restless, Life in Pieces & Jane The Virgin.

How did Cronen get his first tattoo?

“I had it on my left forearm, it was love this moment. I got it right as I was coming back, from sort of a revelatory trip to Mexico. I had literally brought a one way ticket, and was cooling my heels from several years in New York. I just didn’t know what I was going to do with my life next. So there was sort of up in the air, and it really sort of brought me into the present moment of my mind. Typically I tend to dwell in the past and on the future, but present moment awareness is something I am thankful mediation brought me to,” said Cronen.

“A girlfriend was getting her deceased brother’s name tattooed on her hand, and I was just there being support. I got into a conversation with a guy while, I was waiting outside of the shop. He asked if you could boil down the meaning of life into the shortest possible phrase what would it be, and we both sort of landed on love this moment. That presence is sort of what activates all things in life, and he goes good, come inside were tattooing that on your arm. I kind of inadvertently signed up for a tattoo, I loved it, but the ink started to spread, so that has been covered by an arrow on my left forearm that I like quite a bit as well, cause I’ve got a bit of Sagittarius in me to,” said Cronen.

What tarot card is most like Cronen?

“What tarot card, that’s funny because I actually do tarot quite a bit. I don’t know, I’d say either the Justice card or the Lovers. You know the Justice card represents being fair & balanced in all of your dealings. I got a tattoo on my arm, I’m a Libra, and I have 5 planets in Libra, so I really do seek things that are fair balanced. Is it just, is it moral, is it ethical are always kind of the first questions on my mind. Also, the lovers, because they represent not only love and compassion, but new beginnings, new opportunities, and sort of that coming together that you find in co creating, in partners, and lovers. The actual attraction game, but also in manifesting new and creating ideas in hardship,” said Cronen.

What would be the title of Cronen’s life story?

“What would be the title of my life story, I don’t know. It would probably be a pun though. I do like puns and bad jokes far more than a 36-year-old man should,” said Cronen.

Nate Bianchi

I recently had an opportunity to speak with Nate Bianchi, Chicago’s data analytics ace & witty Instagram bio creator.

By: Joshua Conner

I have always been inspired by Nate Bianchi, associate director of marketing sciences at OMD USA, personally & professionally.

Professionally, when Bianchi posted his computer science resume on the job site Monster, he received a call back 5 days later, and was later hired by a marketing agency. Personally, Bianchi has even collaborated with renowned fashion designer Richard Dayhoff as well as photographer and model scout Joem Bayawa, to produce some epic photos.

A day in the life of Bianchi begins early in the morning, around 6 or 7 am. He gets up early so he can have some self investment time.

“You should always give some time to yourself, before you give your time to your job or to someone else,” said Bianchi.

Bianchi then does some work around the house, take care of emails, and heads to the office. He is usually at the office by 9am, with a quick lunch at 11:30 am or noon. He is normally out of the office by 6pm, although he tends to have some late nights at work. After he comes back home and regroups, Bianchi heads to the gym at around 8 or 8:30 pm, and works out for a couple of hours. He then comes back home, after his work out, and relaxes before going to bed, to prepare for the next day.

“Sometimes, I stay at work until 10:00 at night, but for the most part, I try to give myself free time before I go to work in the morning and in the evening as well,” said Bianchi.

Bianchi passion for computer science and data, was passed down from his father. Bianchi’s father taught him how to program and gave him a computer with Windows 3.1, when he was in high school.

“I bet you can say primitive by today’s standards, but for that period it was very advanced,” he said.

Bianchi continued to pursue programming in high school and college. He ended up getting involved in the computer science side of marketing.

“So I went to college and was a computer science major like my dad, and got my degree. I came back to Chicago, put my resume on Monster.com, and a marketing agency called me 5 days after I put up my resume,” he said.

Although he planned on only staying with the company for a couple of years, he ended up staying for 11 years.

“Once you’ve been in an industry for 11 years, it’s hard to do something different. You have a lot of experience, and a lot of just working in that industry, and you just know that industry so well. So I left there after 11 years, and got some different jobs within different marketing agencies around the city,” he said.

Bianchi likes how even though he has worked for a lot of different marketing agencies, all of them have been very data intensive and focused on data analytics.

How does Bianchi measure success?

“I think success is relative to everyone. I think different people have different standards for success that they set for themselves. Different people will get different opportunities,” he said.

Bianchi explained that you can’t compare yourself to other people success and it’s really about the distance you have traveled. Bianchi also explained that happiness is another important aspect of success.

“I think a lot of people find a lot of success in the world and they make a lot of money, but they spend their entire lives: at the office, on the road or in the airplane traveling for work. They don’t do the things in life they really want to do and their miserable their whole lives the whole time, their doing it. So while they look at their material possessions and be very successful at what they do, they’re not really happy and they’re not really doing what they’re enjoying. So I think happiness and satisfaction is the measure of success as well,” said Bianchi.

How does Bianchi come up with such witty Instagram bios?

“I don’t know, you know it just kind of pops into my head. You know my friend Ryan Chiaverini, and you know a couple of my other friends. We trade memes, even a meme for a meme. I mean not all day, but during the course of the day, we just trade funny memes online back and forth on Instagram and laugh at them. So I feel like humor is very contagious and laughter is very contagious. When your trading all these witty, happy statements with each other, funny things kind of pop into your head.

The other thing is I love Seinfeld, it’s probably my favorite show of all time. I’ve probably seen every episode at least 3 or 4 times. So I like that kind of humor and try to immerse myself in that sort of thing. If you have a bad day, or what have you, you just need a half an hour of Seinfeld to make you feel better about things, and kind of lift your spirits a little bit. I think it’s just a result of having funny friends and being in front of lots of funny topics, like that. After awhile you start to think of funny things yourself,” said Bianchi.

Who does Bianchi think would play him in a movie?

“I know who would play me, Ben Stiller, because people tell me I look a lot like him. I watch his movies, and it just freaks me out, because the way he acts, the the things that he does and his mannerisms are just things I do,” said Bianchi on his celebrity twin.
