Dr. Louis Santini

I recently had an opportunity to speak with the handsome and athletic Dr. Louis Santini.

By: Joshua Conner

Dr. Louis Santini is a dentist, from Iron Mountain, Michigan, and currently living in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Santini inspires me personally and professionally. Professionally, I am inspired by how Dr. Santini reinvented himself. Personally, I am inspired by Dr. Santini’s passion for cooking, how he is a marathon runner, style, physique and the brand ambassador for one of my favorite men’s underwear lines Richard Dayhoff.

What would be the title of Dr. Santini’s life story and who would play him in a movie?

“Let’s see, I’m going to go with Take it easy, kind of like the song by The Eagles. I would say Bradley Cooper would play me because people have told me that I look like him before,” said Dr. Santini.

If Dr. Santini’s mantra was a hashtag, it would be live with purpose.

“Let’s go with live with purpose. That’s just you know, particular with me because I think life is kind of dull and boring if you don’t have a purpose,” said Dr. Santini.

What was Dr. Santini’s most memorable year?

“My most memorable year, you know it was a couple of them. I would probably say, I’ll give you two options, either moving to Chicago because I come from a really small town in northern Michigan. So, I’m a small town guy and moving to a big city was a pretty big step. I would say getting into dental school, was my other memorable year, that’s another story. I kind of took a break from school and was working in business in Chicago, when I first moved here, and I wasn’t that happy. The dream of getting into dental school seemed unattainable, but you know somehow with persistence, I was able to get that,” said Dr. Santini.

What does Dr. Santini enjoy about being a dentist?

“What do I like about being a dentist, well number one, I like being able to help people. It’s very rewarding, being able to help people. I like to work with my hands and be creative, so dentistry allows me to do that. You know, whether you are getting someone out of pain, or you are making someone’s smile more aesthetic, you know being comfortable smiling again. I like that my hours are pretty much set, where I don’t have to work on weekends or late at night. I mean unless someone calls with an emergency, that’s the benefit of it.

I would say those things, you know, really being able to help people, being able to be creative, having a major impact on someone’s health, sometimes we can catch diseases that the primary care physician can’t catch, like cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure, that kind of stuff,” said Dr. Santini.

“I would say ethical care, with a passion for excellence,” said Dr. Santini, when asked how he would describe the quality of his care.

What was Dr. Santini’s most memorable marathon to run?

“It would have to be my first one. That was in 2017, that was the one I did with Lawrence Dunning. I had never run a marathon before that, and you know Ryan Chiaverini, his mom passed away from cancer. So he gathered a group of us through Imerman Angels, as a team to run it that year. Unfortunately, Ryan got an injury, so he couldn’t do it. Nate had an injury, he couldn’t do it. So really, it just came down to Lawrence and I, as the last two guys on the team. It was really neat because I played athletics my whole life, but that was a challenge, I respect anyone that has ever run a marathon because it’s really stressful and tough. It was awesome to run with a friend like Lawrence. The whole way through, we cheered each other on, and it was definitely a fun time,” said Dr. Santini.

What is Dr. Santini’s underwear preference?

“Well, I think you know, I’m close friends with Richard Dayhoff, the famous Chicago designer. I wear his trunks, so I’m a big fan of his underwear, it’s what I’m wearing now, kind of like to give him a plug,” said Dr. Santini.

Shawn O’Neill

I recently had an opportunity to speak with millennial model and fighter Shawn O’Neill.

By: Joshua Conner

Shawn O’Neill is a bartender, model, and fighter with Cooper MMA. O’Neill was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, but he is based in Austin, Texas. O’Neill inspires me personally and professionally. Personally, I am inspired by how O’Neill’s dedication to the craft of his martial arts, as well as his style and physique. Professionally, I am inspired by how O’Neill has branded himself and his work ethics.

What would be the title of O’Neill’s life story and who would play him in a movie?

“The title of my life story, you know I haven’t even thought about that one. I’m going to have to go with what I’m known by, like how I use my Instagram name that would be SMO, which are my initials for Shawn Michael O’Neill, so it would be SMO life. Who would play me? I would have to say, Matt Damon. I think Matt Damon, he always puts himself in some tricky situation, and I’m always putting myself in some tricky situations, but I always end up coming out and winning at the end, because I don’t quit,” said O’Neill.

O’Neill’s most memorable year would be 2015 because he started taking jiu-jitsu lessons, and that really helped set him in the modeling world.

“I would probably have to say my second year out of high school, I think I was like 20. I made some friends, that asked me would I like to come and start taking jiu-jitsu lessons, where I started doing my MMA at. Ever since then, it’s kind of taking off, and it’s brought me a lot of great opportunities. It brought me into modeling, because it put me into splendid shape, and helped me get my career started to where I am today. So, I have to say that when I look back on some days, just because I started in my garage doing jiu-jitsu. So, I guess that was 2015,” said O’Neill.

The greatest lesson that MMA has taught O’Neill, is discipline.

“Discipline, MMA and mixed martial arts have taught me the biggest thing in life is discipline. If you get too eager, aggressive, or too nice, people tend to take advantage of that. With that being said, if you learn discipline, and you learn control, then you are always going to be in the correct mindset, where you don’t let anything get out of hand or out of control,” said O’Neill.

If O’Neill’s mantra was a hashtag, it would be #blessed.

“I don’t know, if you could put a life motto into a hashtag, I could say that one would be blessed, to be honest. I would have to say being so young, I have dealt with different trials and tribulations. When I was younger, I actually ended up almost dying, and I had someone save my life. So, I respect it as sort of a blessing. I have a lot of friends and family around me, that shows me a lot of love, support and help me out. You count your small blessings in life, not everything has to be glitz, glamorous and diamonds,” said O’Neill.

What is O’Neill’s underwear preferences?

“I would probably have to say boxer briefs, but I actually wear the athletic brand of underwear. So it’s called Spyders. They are some of the most comfortable fit that I have had or the Adidas ones that I have,” said O’Neill.

If O’Neill could model for any national brand, it would be Calvin Klein.

“Any brand, I would probably have to say, Zara or Calvin Klein. I know those are probably really basic answers, but I would choose Calvin Klein if I had to pick my number one choice. I wear a lot of their clothes, I like the way they fit and they have good materials,” said O’Neill.

What does O’Neill enjoy most about being a bartender?

“What I enjoy most about being a bartender, is probably the people I meet. You know, I go to work each day, but my job is never the same. I may deal with the same job duties, but the people that I meet, and the conversations that I have with people, I mean I’ve made friends that I have known, and I’ve made friends that I have had for a lifetime because that’s the job that I do. Even though I am making drinks for people, it’s just a connection that I can make, I think that’s the most enjoyable part,” said O’Neill.

Alfred Spinelli

I recently had an opportunity to speak with one of New York’s hunky firemen Alfred Spinelli.

By: Joshua Conner

Alfred Spinelli is a firefighter at the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), U.S. Navy Veteran and published cover model, living in Staten Island, New York. Spinelli inspires me professionally and personally. Professionally, I am inspired by how Spinelli served our country in the Navy and continues to serve as a firefighter. Personally, I am inspired by how Spinelli puts family first, his style, physique, and his delicious chef-inspired and didactic Instagram posts. Spinelli is as charming as his New York Commish accent.

Who would play Spinelli in a movie?

“An actor, that I actually paid attention to, and the funny thing is, I kind of like him, I like the show Chicago Fire, is Kelly Severide, Taylor Kinney. Yeah, apparently, being a fireman, and him being a fireman on the show, a couple of people have referenced the two of us together. So, I watched a couple of his movies, and I watched the show, and I like him. He seems like a pretty stand up guy, which is basically, what I try to be,” said Spinelli.

Spinelli’s most memorable year was 2001. This was the year his daughter was born, and 9/11 was his first day on the job as a firefighter.

“My most memorable year, I’m going to have to say 2001, hahaha. So, basically, January 2001, my daughter was born, and July of 2001, I became a New York City firefighter, so FDNY. I graduated from the academy on September 8, 2001, and 9/11 was my first day on the job. If there was any one year, that really stands out, it’s definitely 2001,” said Spinelli.

If Spinelli’s mantra was a hashtag, what would it be?

“If my mantra was a hashtag, again 9 out of 10 times, when I post something, one of the hashtags, is generally, something about family. Whether it’s #familyfirst or #familyalways. Just for that reason, everything that I have ever done is based on what is important to me. It’s definitely family first,” said Spinelli.

What are Spinelli’s underwear preferences?

“Alright, I don’t know too many men who wear boxers anymore. The boxer brief has been a staple for the last 10-12 years though. 9 out of 10 times, I’m buying Hanes, with no tags, with the little writing on front. I’ve actually been online, and I’ve ordered a few, from just some random companies. Some of these are just, so damn comfortable, it’s not even funny. Overall, I’m a Hanes kind of guy,” said Spinelli.

If Spinelli could leave his kids one quality, it would be loyalty.

“One quality, it would be loyalty. They got to be loyal to each other, and they got to be loyal to the family. I mean, it goes hand and hand with honesty, being truthful and in general, you have to be straightforward. No lies, no beating around anything, you just have to tell it like it is,” said Spinelli.

Spinelli enjoys everything about being a fireman, and ultimately it’s a calling.

“Everything, it’s a calling, it’s something that some guys choose, some guys always wanted to be, and there are very few that actually can be. To me, FDNY, or Chicago Fire, that’s just, at least to me, it’s earned, no one can give it to you. When you earn it, it’s the best feeling in the world,” said Spinelli.

If Spinelli could have a conversation with anyone died or alive, it would be with his mother, who passed 21 years ago.

“I told you, I’m a family man, so if I could go back, and have a conversation with anyone it would be mom. The reason why is because it has been 21 years. There is so much to talk about, and so much, that’s she missed out on,” said Spinelli.

What would be Spinelli’s last meal?

“My last meal, if I was cooking it. If I was going to cook my last meal, wow, man, I love everything that I cook. You know, I would probably do the tuna steaks, with the white rice and cilantro, with mango pineapple salsa. That’s always been one of my favorites. I think I like that one, now I’m hungry, ” said Spinelli.

Nathan Hainline

I recently had an opportunity to speak with handsome and charming Nathan Hainline.

By: Joshua Conner

Nathan Hainline is a health insurance agent at US Health Advisors, book cover model, and freelance photographer from in Wichita Falls, Texas. Hainline inspires me professionally and personally. Hainline’s inspires me professionally because of his work ethics, and entrepreneurial spirit. Hainline inspires me personally because of how he has served in the military for our country, physique, photography, charisma, and how he has been on the cover of several of my favorite Daryl Banner books, including the upcoming Garret’s Game.

What would be the title of Hainline’s life story and who would play him in a movie?

“Throwing some tough ones, at me, huh, drawing a blank here. I’m trying to write a book, and I’m going to have to think of a title for that book. Titles are the hardest part when I think about writing books or movies. I would always choose the title last, and have the story determine the title instead of the title determine the story.  So, I guess Against the Odds, is what I would put as the title of my movie. I’m still not a success story, where you would write the movie on. I’m in the part where the main person in the story is failing and trying to climb his way out of the gutter. So, the story is still being written, hopefully, it has a happy ending.

Without sounding too arrogant, I would say Tom Cruise, would play me in a movie. The only reason I choose Tom Cruise is that he is short. I don’t know if you know, I’m 5’6. I’m not very tall, and I weigh about 150 pounds. So, you wouldn’t be able to tell from the pictures. When people talk about being a model, I consider myself more of an artist, as opposed to being a model, because I’m a photographer, I create all of my own images,” said Hainline.

Hainline’s most memorable year was 2014 because it was when he moved back to his hometown.

“That’s a tough one, I try not to, I’m one of those people who doesn’t really think about what has already happened, at this point, it’s always the years to come. So, it’s always the year that I’m in is always the most memorable. I guess it can be the year, that I’m in is always the most memorable. I guess it can be the year that I moved here, which was back in 2014. I packed up, and just left Minnesota, for no apparent reason, and moved back to where I was from.
So my parents split up where I was from. My mom’s side is up north,  my dad’s side is down south, here in Texas. So, I was a mail carrier, up in Minnesota, with all the snow. Snow, up to the waist, sometimes. Rain, sleet, or snow, you still have to go for the mail, so give your mailroom a high five next time. That’s hard work, I just didn’t want to do that, and I didn’t like the direction my life was going, nothing was happening there. So, if I’m going to make a change for the positive, I just haven’t done. I enroll in college here, and got a business degree, in marketing. I meet a girl of course, so that’s the reason I stayed here. The year,  that I made biggest life changes would be 2014,” said Hainline.

If Hainline’s mantra was a hashtag, it would be #failforward.

“My hashtag would be #failforward. Yeah, fail forward, because that’s all I have done really over the course of the trials, and a lot of people will stop after trials. A lot of people will stop after so many fails, and you only I guess failure only comes from you stop trying so. I mean, I am going to keep failing forward, and I take my fails as a lesson learned. Your one fail closer to success,” said Hainline.

What is the story behind Hainline’s first tattoo?

“I can’t show you right now, but you can probably see from some of my pictures that I have a crown with my initials. It’s really not a meaning behind it, it’s just I got it when I was in basic training in the military and we were on leave,  it’s just the thing to do. I wanted to get a tattoo and be a badass. The only thing I could think of was, getting a crown, and just because I saw a picture on Pinterest, that looked cool and my initials.
Originally, I wanted to get it across my back, live every other guy, but then I realized that it looked kind of lame, because it looked like a jersey. Someone talked me out of that so that I was like that, I will just get something subtle with my name on it,” said Hainline.

“We offer selfless service and advice,” said Hainline about how he would describe US Health Advisors.

What do you enjoy most about being a photographer?

“Being able to create something that is not visible to the eye. When someone looks at a picture, and you saw what it looks like before like if you took a picture with a cellphone and a camera, it would be completely different things you would see. I enjoy being able to create something out of nothing,” said Hainline.

How did Hainline get involved in the book cover model industry?

“Well, I was bodybuilding at the time, but I was also an amateur photographer, doing photography for people on the side. I took a picture of myself a couple days before the show, and it was with really dark lighting on sunset. I was trying to get sponsored by a supplement company, so my post was getting shared a lot, and I was asking people to share my posts. Randomly, an author came across my post, with that picture,  and direct messaged me and said, I loved your picture and I would love to use it on on one of my books.
At the time, I was like, that’s not a real thing, that’s Fabio, that’s people from Hollywood, why would they want to use me. You can use it for free.
So the first book, I was ever on, I gave the image for free, just because I didn’t really believe it was going to be on a book. I just didn’t think it was going to be an opportunity. It ended up being legit, they used it on a book, and the book was published, they shared that. Authors were asking who’s that guy, I was tagged obviously. So other authors were asking what photographer I used, can I get some pictures of you. Actually, I’m my own photographer, so the rest is history. It made it really convenient that I was my own photographer,” said Hainline.

Extra content: I asked Nathan Hainline the age-old guy question and if he could have a conversation with anyone who would it be. Follow me on Facebook and Instagram @MrJoshuaConner to find out.

Joel Freeman

I recently had an opportunity to speak with one of Beachbody’s handsome and prolific super trainers Joel Freeman.

By: Joshua Conner

Joel Freeman is a Beachbody super trainer, creator of Liift 4, co-creator of Core de Force, Big Brother Mentor for Big Brothers and Big Sisters LA, and Brand Ambassador for Dude Wipes based in Los Angeles, California. Freeman inspires me personally and professionally. Professionally, I am inspired by Freeman’s work ethic. Personally, I am inspired by his physique, how he gives back and how he is the brand ambassador for one of my favorite products Dude Wipes.

What would be the title of Freeman’s life story and who would play him in a movie?

“The title of my life story would be, a real fitness guy, and who would play me, gosh, let’s just say Chris Evans, because he’s Captain America,” said Freeman.

What was Freeman’s most memorable year?

“My most memorable year, man, to put it into one year is challenging. I think the most memorable year, would be the year,  that we launched Core De Force and I got married all in the same year,” said Freeman.

If Freeman’s mantra was a hashtag, it would be, #reallifefitness.

“It’s that because everything that I do, and I talk about in the realm of Beachbody and everything that I work on, is always reality-based. It’s based around real life, and that’s the focus and flow, that I want people to focus on as well,” said Freeman.

What are Freeman’s underwear preferences?

“Let’s see boxer briefs, except boxers to sleep in. You know, I’m not tied to a brand. I change it up, every year, to try new things, if they’re comfy, I wear them,” said Freeman.

What does it like being a brand ambassador for Dude Wipes?

“What’s it like, you know, it’s been fun. The reason that I decided to be a brand ambassador for them, as I had a lot of great conversations with the CEO and the founders. They all do Beachbody workouts, they do my workouts and they are just very realistic in what they do, and how they talk and that’s how I am. So, it’s something from a cleanliness standpoint, especially guys, we can all talk about a little bit more. Some people see it as taboo, and I just don’t really care. It’s been fun, different and challenging at times. Every month, I try to present the products from a unique standpoint, but also make sense of my brand,” said Freeman.

Freeman’s favorite Dude Wipe products are the original and shower wipes.

“My favorite one is the original one, just straight Dude Wipes, but I have really grown to love their shower wipes because they’re basically encouraging showers after a workout or something. So if after a workout or something and you can’t go straight to a shower, the wipes are awesome,” said Freeman.

If Freeman could have a conversation with anyone died or alive, it would be with someone from the ancient Roman times.

“That’s a good question, who died or alive. I think if it was somebody died, I would have to go back to ancient Roman times and talk to some of the guys who were ahead of their time. Whether it be like Archimedes or anyone in terms of inventors. I would ask them, what their mentality was at the time, to see how and why they were able to be far ahead of everyone else. I have always been fascinated with that world and how they were able to create things, that seemed to be outside of their technology. Yet, we have become very dependent on our technology. They were able to do things, from a very simplistic standpoint, and create stuff, that obviously withstood the test of time,” said Freeman.

Luis Montoya

I recently had an opportunity to speak with blessed & charismatic model and trainer Luis Montoya.

By: Joshua Conner

Luis Montoya is a CEO/Celebrity Trainer, keynote speaker, online health/nutrition coach and one percent nutrition athlete, based in California. Montoya inspires me professionally and personally. Professionally, I am inspired by how Montoya has created a successful business and brand. Personally, I am inspired by Montoya’s faith, physique, style, and didactic Instagram posts.

What would be the title of Montoya’s life story and who would play him in a movie?

“Let’s see the title of the movie would probably be, the art of never giving up. I think Jim Carrey, I love Jim Carrey, I think he is a very funny guy, like myself. So, I think he would do an amazing job. When it comes to being serious, he can be very serious and so am I,” said Montoya.

What was Montoya’s most memorable year?

“My most memorable year would probably be 2016 because I think this was the year that everything started to make sense for me. I had a breakthrough in the fitness industry. I did my very first professional photo shoot with Noel Daganta, and it was just mind-blowing. I think that moment and that year, so many things just started to make sense. That was the first year that I started believing in myself, as much as people believed in me, and it just took me to a whole new level,” said Montoya.

Montoya is so stylish, how does he pick out his wardrobe?

“Let’s see, I like to keep a modern twist in my style. So, I like the gentleman look, but when it comes to casual wear, I try to keep it modern and fun. I do shop at stores like H & M, and Express. What I try to do is, always go for a fit that I see fits my physique. I always try to pick out items, based on whatever season is in. So, I do like dark colors, but I think it’s a time and a place for everything. So, if I’m going out on a date or something like that, I always wear black. I think it’s very seductive and classy. If I’m going out with my friends, like going out to the park, or concert or something like that, I really try to wear more vibrant colors like olive green or maroon, colors that never go out of style,” said Montoya.

If Montoya’s mantra was a hashtag, it would be, #faith.

“Faith is everything for me,” said Montoya.

Montoya would describe his brand as, “faith, health and wealth”.

What is Montoya’s favorite inspirational quote?

“You know what, I actually have a tattoo on my arm. This is from the very famous Greg Plitt. Greg Plitt played a very big role in my transformation. I considered him an angel, that God sent to me, to pick me up from the worst time that I had. I was at my worst, and I was at the border of committing suicide, and life was just making no sense. I discovered Greg Plitt, who ended up passing away, but he was a famous fitness cover model. There was this quote that always stuck with me, and I have it on my arm and it says, “Second by second, you lose the opportunity to become who you really want to be, take charge of your life,” said Greg Plitt.
That was such a powerful quote, that I ended up getting it on my arm, as a tribute to him, with a clock ticking. So every time I look at, it reminds me that every second counts. Every second is an opportunity to become the person, that I want to become. I gotta take chances in my life, and it’s up to me to create that,” said Montoya.

If Montoya could do any workout with Greg Plitt, it would be a full body workout.

“Oh, my God, you know what, I wanna say a shoulder workout, but I’m going to go ahead and say a full body workout. Full body workout, because I have seen his YouTube videos, where he does his full body workout outdoors. It’s just incredible to see Greg Plitt, put his body through so much,  I think it would be an amazing workout to be able to experience that with him,” said Montoya.

If Montoya could have a conversation with anyone died or alive, who would it be and what would they talk about?

“I would have to go with Greg Plitt one more time. There are so many people that I look up to, but it would be Greg Plitt because I think he has had such a big impact on my life. The conversation would probably be like, he lived his life to the fullest, and I would probably ask him if he could change anything? He probably wouldn’t change anything, if I knew him well, I would know that. I would probably ask him if there was anything else that he would have wanted to do, or did he have any regrets, or if he could do it all over again, would he want a second chance to explore,” said Montoya.

Extra Content: I asked Luis Montoya about his underwear preferences and the story behind his first tattoo. You can follow me Instagram & Facebook @MrJoshuaConner to find out what he said.

Dr. Amaan Sadruddin

I recently had an opportunity to speak with one of Chicago’s handsome, astute & creative Renaissance Man Dr. Amaan Sadruddin.

By: Joshua Conner

Dr. Amaan Sadruddin is a doctor specializing in surgery and medicine, electronic music producer and model based in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Sadruddin inspires me both professionally and personally. Professionally, I am inspired by Dr. Sadruddin passion for helping his patients and their families, his work ethics, and how versatile his brand is. Personally, I am inspired by Dr. Sadruddin musicality, style, physique, and his creativity.

What would be the title of Dr. Sadruddin life story and who would play him in a movie?

“That’s a tough one because I have to put myself in a slightly narcissistic situation, which is very hard to do. Title of the movie would be, go after it. I’m a very simple guy, that’s just how it would be. I think anyone would be able to play that movie. I don’t know, I don’t watch many movies, so that’s a really hard thing. I think I’d go with Johnny Depp, because of the way, he can switch characters really fast. If you see his movies, he can switch so beautifully and so fast. So, it’s the same for me, if I’m working in the hospital,  I have a different demeanor, and I don’t think the same way. If I’m back here, and I’m working on the creative stuff, then everything just changes,”said Dr. Sadruddin.

Dr. Sadruddin most memorable year, was last year, although he is expecting great things for this year.

“Most memorable year, you know what it would be this year. I got a chance, to do a lot of things, but since you asked specifically, it’s a really tough one, because you always want to look at the best of what is happening. This year has just started, so there is so much up ahead. Last year, was great, I meet a lot of interesting people and a lot of creative individuals. Just to see that vibe of people, not worrying about other things, and just for the sake of creating. Some people not doing it for the money, and really beautiful things can come from places like that. I would say last year, but this year was fantastic too,” said Dr. Sadruddin.

If Dr. Sadruddin mantra was a hashtag, it would be #committed.

“It would be committed, because I think that I am the type of individual, that if I say something, the least I have to do is be aware of what I said. If I say I am going to do something, I’ll take time out of my day, to figure out how I can spare it as much as I can. Sometimes, you put too much on your plate, and it’s really hard to bring it all together. I guess it would just be committed because that’s how it’s meant to be,” said Dr. Sadruddin.

What Dr. Sadruddin, enjoys most about being a doctor is the response.

“What do I enjoy most about being a doctor,  I think it’s the response. It’s just you can see emotions change so fast, and it works both ways. You can see them go from terribly worried to extremely relieved, it can also go the other way, they could be really well, and go to like instant pain. I’ve seen people shift when they come in, cause they happen to see one of their family members, and they walk in, and they see what happens to them, and the whole dynamic just changes. You can see the ripple effect, it’s like you see him going into shock, then the next family member,  and then the next. It really teaches you not to play around with your life,” said Dr. Sadruddin.

Extra Multimedia Content: In my first YouTube Video for joshuaconner.org, I talk to Dr. Sadruddin about modeling for national brands, and music.
